We are thrilled to announce the launch of our £50,000 Lyle’s Local Fund
Blown away by the number of applications to support incredible projects in the local community we receive each year, we have decided to double the size of the Lyle’s Local Fund to £50,000 to support more projects that make Newham such a special place to live and work.
Grants of up to £5,000 are available for local social enterprises, schools, charities, community groups and not-for-profits who support safe, prosperous and healthy community activities in Newham.
On Thursday 3 October, Grantees from last year’s Lyle’s Local Fund came together to celebrate their success and launch this year’s Fund at a celebration breakfast at Thames Refinery. Councillor Charlene McLean and members of LBN’s Community Partnership team also joined the celebration.
Guests heard project updates from 2023 Grantees Dost Centre for Young Refugees & Migrants, whose sports club sessions offer a safe, fun and welcoming place where young people can play and make memories, Ambition Aspire Achieve who used their Lyle’s Local Fund grant to buy new tools, equipment and seeds for their Garden Rangers Club, and Newham Ability Camp who offer children and young adults with disabilities a chance in sport. The Grantees who attended the launch – schools, charities, clubs and community centres – are a snapshot of the diversity of the amazing work that is going on to make Newham a safer, healthier and more prosperous place.
We are so proud of our Newham roots and the Lyle’s Local Fund exists to support the very special organisations, projects and people who work hard to make our borough a better place to live and work. The Lyle’s Local Fund has been running since 2017. Since then, it has awarded over £200,000 to over 95 projects to make Newham a safer, healthier and more prosperous place.
Organisations who wish to apply should visit the Grants section of the Newham Council website (Lyle’s Local Fund – Funding for community projects – Newham Council) and use the forms available there. The deadline for applications is 5pm Sunday 3 November 2024.
